Twenty-five astronaut forms, each painted by a commissioned artist in the Seattle area, are being used to promote the 50th anniversary of the Museum of Flight. Paul Kuniholm’s “A Brief Compendium of the Future” was featured in Alan Berner’s Seattle Times article, with several of Berner’s photos archiving Kuniholm’s sculpture. A wearable sculpture was installed on an edition-organized mannequin which consists of a fiberglas astronaut. A laser and video display were also installed by Kuniholm.
On Friday, the museum’s website will launch coverage of the astronauts around town, offering people the opportunity to photograph themselves with the art pieces.
From Aug. 1 until Sept. 12, there will be an online auction of the pieces as a fundraiser.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, the museum will host an event to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary at Boeing Field.
