J3: Brush With Greatness

"J3: Brush With Greatness", J3 replied to a capricious invitation by then-form/space atelier curatorial workers, June 27, 2008. J3 declined to lecture in a handwritten postcard, but maybe it was James Meyer's handwriting. J3s gallery would not authenticate the postcard, saying "in any case, the postcard is a special momento for posterity" . J3 turns 93 in May.

Alterrealism: Joanna Salska

Alterrealism, Joanna Salska

"Alterrealism", Joanna Salska, selected images, dimensions variable.  Joanna Salska is a painter and a founding member of a new interdisciplinary art movement, Alterrealism, which is described as “…a cultural movement with the purpose of accentuating [in a variety of artistic mediums] the fluid connection between the subconscious and conscious worlds.” She says, “the scraps of paper are like stones for a stonemason: they tell me what to do and how to fit them together…”. Salska adds geometric vocabulary and gesturally portrayed content from earlier landscape paintings, evoking fleeting memories, dialogues hidden within formal structures, hinting at a narrative from the artist’s own subconscious. Thus, Salska’s work displays ethereal strength—a provocative combination.  Salska divides her time between Warsaw, Poland and Berkeley, CA, her work has been shown at Foster Goldstrom Fine Arts, Allrich Gallery, PII Gallery, Roshkowska Galleries and others.  She was invited twice to Beijing Biennale, and her paintings are in many collections, including Beijing Museum, Bonino collection, Yaddo, Washington Museum of Women in the Arts, and many others.

Encoding Narrative of Artwork In Binary

P Space K

Use of encoded narrative is intended to create an esoteric subgroup connected to the in-person relationship with the artist, in this case, P Space K encoded in binary invites the layperson to seek further narrative from the artist Paul Kuniholm.  Kuniholm has created innumerable artworks incorporating binary encoding for murals, performative, and other time-based art.

Fossil Kvinna, ink and collage (detail)

Helena I. Blom b.1962

ARTIST STATEMENT:
My artwork is an exploration of how we humans interact with
